Polls! Polls!

Monday, March 31, 2008 by Chemical Apple

If you come here because you thought I'm talking bout 'Polis! Polis! Sorry to dissapoint you. ^^..the title looks so alike!

Eventhough I think of myself as a creative
(bastard) fella, sometimes I do run out of ideas my 'lovable' Malaysian Studies lecturer once described us engineering students as those without creativity hmphh.. And sometimes the ideas come gushing and then it would be hard to pick one and write bout it because I'd be thinking bout those that got left out prihatin rite? ^^", so it helps if you give me feedback on what i should write. Thanks to Vizu, I've created a kinda cute poll for you to easily give me feedback on. Ahem! With my face on it somemore o...^^.. The poll (which unless your eyesight is very bad aka blind) can be found at the right sidebar (or is it called the centre one?) of my blog...
So happy voting folks.. Its not that hard right? Not as hard as voting for which crap you want as your MP.^^

1) My first poll yeay! Hopefully laku la..^^"..not like its a TOLL, kena bayar..^^
2) April fool tomorrow!!
3) 3 days more to my birthday!!

Political Emo Post!

Sunday, March 30, 2008 by Chemical Apple

Hey cant resist the lure of blogging today so here goes one more wacky 'BEER' post!.
Okay Okay I know I know, I should probably stop my long rant on booze so lets talk 'POLITICAL' for one moment okay?

Okay, I know the election's already long gone and the people had their say, nearly! except for me though, not eligible to vote see cause I'm not yet 21. Hallelujah to that too!. But then these so called political figures never cease to create stupid comments that eventually make themselves look like a fool practically! Anyway the only reason I talk political today is because some of it actually affects me all of us I'd say!. The PM Abdullah has said that he would not increase the price of petrol reassuring but then he has the bad habit of doing just the bloody opposite of what he means. So brace yourselves for the increase people! (this is sure gonna burn a hole in my pocket which is rather shallow).. Anyway check this vid out. Some of you might have watched it watch again lah! cause its kinda old already. But back to the point, I'd say that Anwar Ibrahim got a fair point here! And ignore the stupid Ida Nerina face overthere.
I repeat this is NOT porn!

'Najib Mongolia!!' haha.. that's funny! Altantuya in memory..
And Anwar was rite about the zero price increase during his term as the finance minister. Cut the profit lah and subsidies the god-damned petrol price. We are a f**king oil-producing country for goodness sake.
yeah rite!

TinyTalk
1) Over emo? no laaa...
2) Miri...... is.......... so.......... slow......
3) As for the dumb title, I just cant find an alternative.^^
4) Gotta put my 'tinytalk' in normal font. My new layout got a too tiny small font..sigh

Beer Myth

Saturday, March 29, 2008 by Chemical Apple

Disclaimer: This post is NOT suitable for non-alcoholics or AlcoholicAnonymous people or beer-haters! and those under the age of 18! I'm 20 this April 4 ler..^^

Okay since I'm on a roll now, lets continue with some MYTH (aka not fact la) about the world's favorite beverage BEER. You know whenever you go like maybe to a bar or a club or someplace where you lay back, relax and drink, a conversation or two is a must. So sooner or later the 'Where you from?', 'What you do?' question will come up...
And then as you 'casually' chat and take sips of your beer which turn to a couple of glass of beer, the conversation tends to be longer eventhough with the loud music playing in the background and then when people get drowsy drunken drowsiness that is, the craps and the bullshits will come out with it too.
It seems like there is always that guy in the bar that has a crazy story about the beer he's drinking. The worst part, sometimes its believable, so you tell someone, then they tell someone, and thats a 'beer myth'. So in case you get' shit on' while drinking your beer here are ten of the more outrageous myths about beer and what you need to know to set that guy in the bar straight.

Beer Myth 1: Beat the Beer Belly with Light Beer

OK, light beers have maybe 90-100 calories, regular beers generally have less than 200 calories. A beer lover would say the difference is comparable to the difference between McDonalds and a 5 star restaurant. A dietician would tell you the difference is negligible. So unless you are drinking 300 beers a week, I would drink the good stuff.

Beer Myth 2: The darker the beer, the more alcohol it contains

Not even close. Guinness is black, and has 4.2% alcohol. The color of a beer comes from the toasted malts, which has no effect on alcohol content. Ingredients like rice syrup, honey, and corn syrup add alcohol to beer, but do not influence the color.

Beer Myth 3:
Beer is ruined if warmed and then refrigerated

This can be true, if you do it many, many times, and it will happen gradually. People think re-chilling beer will cause it to be "skunked". Beer can be ruined by air, light and time. Temperature won't ruin a beer unless it's extreme. Get fresh beer and store it in dark place, and it will be fine.

Beer Myth 4: Imported beers have more alcohol than domestic beers

This comes from the way US beers reported their beers' alcohol content. The rest of the world uses "Alcohol by Volume", here is the US they used "Alcohol By Weight". Since beer weighs less than water, US beers had smaller numbers, but not less alcohol.

Beer Myth 5:
The Guinness they serve in Ireland is better

It seems widely accepted that beer in "the old country" is better than what they export to the rest of the world. The brewing process is cheap, so why would a brewery risk their reputation by brewing a different beer for export? It doesn't make sense, and it's not true. With few exceptions, the beer that is exported is the exact same beer that they serve in the bar across the street from the brewery. The difference is purely freshness. It takes two weeks for a keg of Guinness to get from Dublin to your favorite bar in the states. Some beers, like Fosters, is brewed in Canada under a license for sale in the US. But it is clearly stated on the bottle when this is the case.

Beer Myth 6: Beer shouldn't be Bitter

The bitterness of a beer comes from the hops. Hops are in all beers to balance the sweet malts and to act as a preservative. Some beers have a lot of hops, like India Pale Ales (IPAs) and some beers have less hops, like Wheat Beers. Hops can give a beer complexity and add all sorts of flavors and aromas, like pine, citrus, and earthiness. Hops are why people say beer is an acquired taste, but they also make beer delicious.

Beer Myth 7: The best beers are in green bottles.

As it turns out, brown bottles protect the beer from the light much better than green bottles or clear bottles. This myth comes from when there was a shortage of brown glass in Europe after WWII. The European beers were bottled in green instead, so green bottles came to represent imports. This certainly isn't the case anymore.

Beer Myth 8: The Thai beer Singha has formaldehyde in it

It seems widely believed that Singha is brewed with formaldehyde, as is Chang beer, San Miguel, Vietnamese 33, and Singapore's Tiger Beer. The most believable explanation for this one is that Singha is much more bitter and contains more alcohol than most lagers. When American or British expatriots and soldiers were drinking beer in Thailand, they got drunk much more quickly then they were used to, and it was much more bitter flavor then they were used to. To explain this it was suggested that it contained formaldehyde. Crazy.

Beer Myth 9:
Corona is Mexican Piss

In the 1980s there was a rumor that Mexican workers were peeing in the Corona tanks that were destined for the US. Certainly alarmingly disgusting... if true. As it turns out this myth was started as a result of Corona's rising popularity in the US market, and who was jealous? Heineken. This was nothing more than a rumor started by a Heineken wholesaler in Reno. It all worked out, the guy from Heineken admitted his wrongdoing, and Corona continued it's rise to popularity. But the rumor can still be heard today in bars across the country.

Beer Myth 10: Women don't like beer

Thats crazy! Most woman aka girls loves beer almost as much as I do, you wont want to mess with them I tell you. Women have brewed more beer than men in the History of Beer. Sister Doris in Bavaria brews Mallersdorf lager. Fortunately, this myth is far far from true.

Cheers!!

Booze I Can't afford!!

by Chemical Apple

Disclaimer: This post is NOT suitable for non-alcoholics or AlcoholicAnonymous people hehe..
One of my most favourite beverage to relax my mind and lossen up is the 'beer' ... And during my hey days I consumed quite the amount of it (which I'm not really proud of anyway).. But anyway in celebration of 1 of man's most FAMOUS creation I give you the world's MOST expensieve beer! FYI I got this info from Project010 site..tq

1.Vielle Bon Secours:

This tops the list of the world's most expensive beer, costing around £500 (equivalent to around $1,000) per bottle or about £39 (equivalent to around $78) per pint. It can only be found in a bar called the Bierdrome in London. Thats like 3,180.74 Malaysian Ringgit per bottle... I'd go bankrupt in just one night of clubbing..haha..

2.Tutankhamen Brew:

The recipe of this brew is prepared according to the recipe and brewing method discovered by a team of University of Cambrige archaeologists/Egyptologists in the Queen Nefertiti's Temple of the Sun in Egypt. The brewery found in the corner of the said temple is believed to have been built by King Akhenaton who is King Tutankhamen's father.
This is also the place where King Akhenaton queen, Nefertiti worshiped. The archaeologists sought expert advice from Scottish and Newcastle Breweries, Edinburgh and the beer is brewed in the Cambridge laboratory, costing around $52 per bottle. The production is also limited and the edition is also numbered. Now that is around RM165.862 per bottle, now compared to that, a large bottle of Guinness Stout is just RM13... -_-'" .. Just beware of the curse of the Tutankhamen.. you might just see the mummy come after you (after u drink this that is^^)

3.Samuel Adams' Utopias:

Utopias, named after one of the founding fathers of the USA.
This comes second in the list of the world's most expensive beer which costs around $100 per bottle (24 oz) or about $67 per pint, sold in copper bottles resembling the copper brewing kettles which are used by brewers for hundreds of years. That sets the tone at a cool 318.965 MYR, not bad considering you can sell the copper bottle for scrap metal..^^
.. On the plus side no danger of the fella coming back, doubt he wants to see what America has become!

What goes on in Putrajaya At Night?

Friday, March 28, 2008 by Chemical Apple

The real answer is nothing.... I cant find a single bird around, even cars are scarce. The place where the 'Ruling' federal govt works and waste the people's money.. Even the Seri Perdana, where the Prime Minister lives looks empty. Maybe he sleeps early..needs all the energy to come up with answers aka denial to the press mabe .. But then on the upside I got some pretty nice shots of the very expensieve kononnya modern art buildings overthere. You cant deny that Putrajaya got some of the most magnificent architecture of the modern Malaysia.

Get what I mean??? nice.. though it is a waste of money..

80's baby!

by Chemical Apple

If you are Msia's 80s baby, read through this, we grew up watching Transformers, Thundercats, Woody Woodpecker, Chipmunks, Mickey Mouse, Jem, Mask, Ninja Turtles, Voltron, Baja Hitam, Ultraman n not forgettin POWER RANGERS n BUGS BUNNY!!!and anderra yippa mice?
:), McGyver ?

Remember when we had to brush our teeths during recess at primary school? had to hold plastic cups, line up with your classmates side by side and start brushing our teeths at some open area... or maybe near some drain?? With the nurse holding her 'big' toothbrush and brushing the fake teeth set.

Do you still remember that we had 'dentist' rooms where we had to have our teeths check?
Not to forget our 'program minum susu' in primary school.. everybody is suppose to buy like cartons of milk that costed 30 cents.. and you would see everyone drinking it everyday...its d UHT milk...

The teachers who would want to punish us must use yellow rulers to hit us on our palms?? 1 metre length.. I still remember the canes my chinese school teachers bring to class.. with the rubber band at the end. I was so scared of the 'cane'..

In canteen, a bowl of mihun soup or some soup only costed 50 cents at the school canteen... Most of us also went to some sundry shop near the school or to the 'roti' man waiting outside our schools so that we can buy junk food like chickedees, mamee, ding dang with some toys in it, 'Ti Kam', ice-cream and we would play games like monopoly, uno, old maid, and all other card games like that...

another fun time would be during Pendidikan Jasmani. the boys would play football while the girls would play netball... and it would be like we were playing in the world cup...

but of course. the best would be main guli, batu seremban, bottlecaps, ice- cream sticks, 'Pepsi Cola one-two-three', Cops and Robbers, main kejar-kejar duduk,getah... and for the not so active, those kind of 'book games' where we would use buku latihan to draw and ask our friends to play...

Do you remember the ice-cream tubes which are actually ice and colouring that are sold for 10 to 20 cents.. the colourful ones.. where you usually bite off the top to glup it down.orange tastes d best..(pop-ice)

What about days when we felt like doing naughty things such as folding papers so small to make 'lastik' amd shoot each other... how about throwing chalks??

Back then, micheal jackson was just turning white.. and still had albums coming out.. compared to CD's, we were listening to tapes that sold for RM9.90 ...

WELL, are we all getting older or what?

1) if you understand what you have read and you are smiling...

2) we have friends from school that are already married...

3) we shake our heads everytime we see high school students fussing about their handphones in school..

4) we don't hang on phone with our friends for hours a day talking about nothing...

5) when we meet back with our friends from time to time, we feel excited and happy talking bout old times, the funny 'adventures' or stories that we experienced as a kid..

6) last but not least, that when you read this, you would think of all the happy & sad memories that you have experienced when you were still a kid

Do you remember all that? I remember some of it... Life was very different back then...
I got this in the mail from a friend.. It made me smile and I hope you'd smile to..
CHEERS!!

1) Happy memories.

Uni At Last...

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 by Chemical Apple

Finally after ermmm nearly 2 years of 'undecisiveness', I have at last decided on what to Major in...^^Alas its not a 'Major' like the kind that they have in the Military (I love those Command & Conquer, Red Alert stuffs) but then something more realistic (but then still exist in Red Alert^^).
No! I dont want to be a Yuri, eventhough the thought of controlling the 'someone''s mind is attractive. Haha, the rite answer is Engineering. Yeah, those little guys that go around controlling aka stealing the $$ oil rigs. Hopefully I'll make it through the years and succeed in becoming the next World Tycoon!! oops not that but becoming the next CEO cum Chemical Engineer in SHELL...WOOHOO!! Dream On Bro!!!

Anyway which lucky college/Uni thaa will be lucky enough to accept me? The winner to this 'unrecognized' accolade is Curtin University of Technology Miri!!
Been in the Uni for nearly 1 and a half weeks already and what can I say!! Not Bad Not bad....
The people (students/lecturers etc) seems pretty nice.. Take that I was alone, not too mention 'friendless' in an unknown territory.. It might be just a couple of hours drive from my place but then I've rarely been here..... Prior to joining this Uni, I only knew 2 person..and both of them are not in my course...
In the first week itself, I made quite a number of friends, pissed someone off, crack jokes, not to mention making my self look like a fool in front of the whole class, nearly left a class in anger I practically forced myself to stay, truly, and also pour chemicals unto myself...
that sums up the first week I'd say... As for photos, please wait coz have to settle in first...
In fact this is the first real time for me to go online and update ( Finally got INTERNET,yippee!!).. And I must say this 'I MISS MY BLOG!!!'...
haha..(grin*)

My Uni....
